We do things a little differently at Pizza Strada & Bar: we cook our pizzas Neapolitan-style with a traditional dough recipe and a stone-based wood fired oven, but our toppings range from all-time classics to modern favourites. The pizza pepperoni is a beautiful blend of both!
Pepperoni, the American take on Italian salami, is one of the most popular pizza toppings in the world! The main differences between the Italian salami and American pepperoni is that while salami is traditionally made from pork, pepperoni is usually made from beef or a mixture of pork and beef. Pepperoni also has a finer grain, producing a softer texture.
At Pizza Strada & Bar we source the finest ingredients to top our pizzas and this extends to our pepperoni. The pepperoni on our pepperoni pizza is princi pepperoni. It’s made from beef, salt and spices. It's also made from 99% Australian ingredients!
While the traditional American pepperoni pizza is a cheesy, deep-dish treat, ours is made in the Neapolitan-style! Our pepperoni pizzas are first coated with a layer of San Marzano tomatoes, sprinkled with shredded mozzarella and then we lay slices of pepperoni and top with fresh basil leaves.
Once topped, we place our pizzas into our 400 degree Marana wood fired oven for a quick 60-90 seconds. When it comes out of the oven, the cheese is bubbles, the pepperoni glistens and the cornicione is perfectly puffed!
At Pizza Strada & Bar, we make a truly delicious pizza pepperoni - come on down and try it for yourself! See our menu for more wood fire pizza options.
